Showers and thunderstorms continue to develop across northern Illinois. At 745 PM...the bulk of the showers stretched along a line from DeKalb...to Elgin...to south of Waukegan Illinois... with an additional band of showers moving across the southwest suburbs and downtown Chicago. These showers and thunderstorms are capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 mph...small hail...and extended periods of heavy rainfall which may result in some ponding of water along roadways and minor street flooding in downtown Chicago. Meanwhile...additional storms over Putnam County will move into the LaSalle and Ottawa regions by 800 PM. Showers are expected to increase in coverage across the LaSalle...DeKalb...Kendall...and Kane County regions through 830 PM.
